What to Read?

Spending time in the scriptures is most important. But in order for that time to be fruitful, it helps to have some sort of plan/guidance/purpose in mind at the start. Picking random pages can work in certain times, but systematic time spent in prayer over the scriptures seems like it is better approached with a plan.

I'm reading Matthew right now, but a lot of the Theology of the Body (ToB) takes its heart from Ephesians, so I might go there next.

Making Time for Prayer

How do you start? I set aside 10 minutes in the morning right after I wake up.

This worked for about a month or so (enough to get through most of the gospel of Matthew), but holiday travel and the sleep schedules of an infant and toddler have gotten in the way.

I've read a few books which were enlightening, including The Only Necessary Thing and The Basic Book of Catholic Prayer in the last six months. I've been able to incorporate some of what I learned, but I definitely need to go back for some renewed spirit.

A good online source for some directed daily prayer is Sacred Space. I also want to spend some more time reading the resources at eCatholic Hub.

Let me know how you maintain a regular prayer life.

The purpose of this blog will be to share in spiritual growth with my brothers.
